Abbotsford Chamber Brings Economic Risks of Flooding to the Forefront at BC Chamber AGM

June 9, 2022 – Abbotsford, BC – The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce alongside the Surrey Board of Trade and Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce highlighted the importance of addressing future flooding risks and rebuilding at the Annual General Meeting of the BC Chamber of Commerce. Through the many challenges of the past two years, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating flooding in fall of 2021, Fraser Valley Chambers of Commerce are united in their resolve to support businesses, farmers and communities and to support resiliency and recovery.

The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce also supported a motion to implement a holistic affordable childcare model that includes private childcare operators as well as the need for more Early Childhood Educators to support people and families across British Columbia. 

“This year’s BC Chamber of Commerce policy convention was full of inspiring ideas to drive the future prosperity of BC’s small businesses. The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce was pleased to support various policy proposals to support those businesses as well as people and families in our province,” said Katerina Anastasiadis, CEO of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and incoming Executive Secretary and Director on the BC Chamber Executives Association. “Chambers continue to lead the way towards meaningful policy change for BC’s small businesses.”

Craig Toews, President of the Abbotsford Chamber acknowledges the leadership of the BC Chamber in bringing BC’s business communities together in Prince George to reflect on our current state and discuss economic policies that will enable a better future. “Invigorated by thought leaders and industry experts, we engaged in meaningful dialogue with our Chamber colleagues from around the province to prioritize policies that will benefit our diverse business community.”

The BC Chamber of Commerce AGM & Policy Convention took place June 7-9th in Prince George with delegates and stakeholders from across the province. The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce was pleased to collaborate with fellow Chambers and to have won the support of the BC Chamber network on critical issues facing the Fraser Valley region and across the province.
